Membership in the Association of Central and Eastern European Election Officials

Since 1991 the Central Election Commission of Latvia is a full-fledged member of the Association of Central and Eastern European Election Officials (ACEEEO), but since 2000 the Commission is also a member of the Executive Board in which the chairman of the Central Election Commission of Latvia Mr Arnis Cimdars is an elected member of the Executive Board. At present, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Latvia Mr Arnis Cimdars also officiates as the President of the ACEEEO. 

Briefly about ACEEEO

The Association of Central and Eastern European Election Officials (ACEEEO) was founded in 1991. ACEEEO is a nongovernmental organization with the primary goal to provide an objective forum, independent from any national government, for information exchange concerning elections and political processes among election officials, experts and scientists in order to foster free, democratic and fair elections in member states and region of action of the Association.

Members of the Association are election institutions established pursuant to the legislation of the respective country.

At present, there are 22 ACEEEO members. These countries are Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, and Ukraine.

There are seven members of the Executive Board elected for three years term from within Association members representing different countries, as well representatives of those two member-countries which are ready to organise a conference and a meeting of the General Assembly in the current year.

Currently, beside Latvia also Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, and Ukraine are represented at the Executive Board of the Association.

International conference of election organizers in Latvia

International conference of election organizers was held in Latvia
